Most budget apps need your bank login and keep your data on their servers. Penny needs neither. Your money data never reaches us, so there's none of it to leak, sell or hand over.
It stays where it started.
Everything Penny reads, it reads on your device. Everything it writes, it encrypts before it touches the disk.
What comes in
Bank alerts you chose, receipt photos, statement files and what you type.

Parsed, categorised and checked for duplicates right there, offline.
Stored encrypted
AES-256, with the key sealed by Windows or your phone's secure hardware.
Layers, not promises.
Each protection works on its own. Together they cover a lost phone, a shared computer and a bad import.
Encrypted at rest
Your data file is encrypted with AES-256. The key is sealed by Windows for your user account, or by your phone's secure hardware.
Passcode and recovery key
Add a passcode for a second lock. A recovery key gets you back in if you forget it, and only you hold it.
Privacy mode
One switch hides every amount on screen, for budgeting on the train or sharing your screen. Try it.
Verified backups
Backups every day and before big changes, each one checked, so a bad import is one click to undo.
Notifications, narrowly
Off until you turn it on and pick your bank apps. Only purchases from those apps are kept, encrypted. Codes and balances never are.
Works offline
Penny doesn't need the internet. Nothing about you or your money is sent anywhere; checking for updates can be switched off.

The website
This site sets no cookies and uses no trackers. We count anonymous visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't identify you or follow you to other sites. The demos on the home page run in your browser; nothing you type there leaves the page.
